Relish loves hard! He wants to be with you whether laying at your feet, snuggled at your side or walking alongside you! He adores people, older kids included!
He is very well mannered in a home yet is not a fan of a crate at all. He walks well on a leash, knows basic commands and is absolutely obsessed with tennis balls! He loves playing dress up and has quite a wardrobe started! He is not a fan of the rain and does a silly shake at the door before it ever touches him!
He will need to be in an only pet home as he is not a fan of others in his space. He has endured so much his fears are understandable. He would be best suited with an active family who wants to make him the center of their world! His ideal home would be a single family home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play without fear of the unknown around him. He is building more confidence each day yet glimpses of fear still happen and it just breaks your heart to see such an amazing boy hide.
Relish's journey has been one of resilience and hope. Originally brought to a Georgia shelter as a puppy, he experienced the ups and downs of adoption, only to find himself back in the shelter after more than a year of waiting for his forever home. His fortunes took a darker turn when he became part of an animal cruelty investigation, along with 19 other dogs.
Seized into custody, Relish bore the physical scars of multiple dog attacks, losing his tail, enduring a frail body that exposed every bone, and facing a swollen leg that required a drain to combat infection. Despite the hardships, Relish's spirit remained unbroken. Second Chance Pet Adoptions became his sanctuary after our Dog Program manager witnessed his despair. Rushed to the vet, Relish underwent treatment and emerged from the shadows, now happy, healthy, and officially cleared for adoption. This survivor is ready to embark on a new chapter with a loving family who can appreciate his strength and resilience.
Relish is now neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He is ready to find a family of his own and spend his days never having to worry again. Unlike others, we ask that Relish’s new family stays in contact with not only our organizational yet also his previous foster parents in Georgia who have advocated so hard for this boy! If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Once your application has been confirmed and approved, we will be send it over to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a good match for the dog.
