To arrange a meet and greet with a dog, you MUST fill out the adoption application so that it can be sent to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a match for the dog. ** I cannot be the only dog in the home! **
Hey Hey! I'm Merlot, I'm a classy senior gal and I’m about 8 1/2 years old. I haven’t had the best life, let me tell you, my story. When my foster mom rescued me from the shelter, I was dirty, overweight, very shut down, and was heartworm symptomatic. I was afraid of everything and didn't trust humans especially men. My foster mom spent over a month working on my confidence and eventually I started to take treats from her hand and enjoyed going on walks with her. Now my foster mama is my best friend, and she tells me all the time how proud of me she is for being such a brave girl. My foster dad is working hard to get me to love him as much as I love mom. I do love going on walks with him, so I’ve made great progress with him.
I love love love other dogs and I am so much more confident with another dog around so I must go to a home that already has an existing dog. I do better with calmer dogs, but I do like to run around the backyard with my current foster brothers. They know I am an old lady, so they are very gentle with me. I also live with a cat, and she is easy going so I could also live with a cat how won't annoy me. Young children make me very nervous so I would do best in a home with kids 15 and older. I love to go for walks and love to sleep on my foster parents’ bed. I’ll need some time to settle into my new home but with a box of treats and some regular walks for bonding time I’ll adjust. I do not have to have a fenced backyard since I love going on walks. I have successfully completed my heartworm treatment and now that I’m healthy I’m hoping to find my forever home in time for Valentine's Day. Will you be my Valentine? If you have any additional questions, you can email my foster mom at jessica@secondchancenc.org. You can also apply online to get the adoption process started. I can’t wait to meet you!
